Development work on the compound, originally designated TH9507, focused on conditions in which reduced growth hormone signaling is thought to contribute to altered body composition. The United States Food and Drug Administration approved it in 2010 for the treatment of excess visceral abdominal fat in adults with human immunodeficiency virus infection and lipodystrophy. Later research examined other populations, including adults with mild cognitive impairment, where a large trial did not meet its primary endpoints. This mixed record illustrates how a single mechanism can produce clear effects in one setting and inconclusive results in another.
Several related peptides act on the same receptor, including sermorelin, a shorter GHRH fragment, and modified analogs such as CJC-1295 and modified GRF(1-29) that are common in research settings rather than approved products. Tesamorelin differs from growth hormone itself in that it acts upstream, prompting the pituitary to release the hormone through physiological signaling rather than supplying it directly. Terminology in the literature distinguishes GHRH analogs, growth hormone secretagogues, and recombinant growth hormone, although popular discussion often blurs these categories together. Precise naming matters when comparing study results.
Tesamorelin is a synthetic peptide of 44 amino acids that reproduces the sequence of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) and carries a trans-3-hexenoyl group on its N-terminal tyrosine. That small fatty-acid modification blocks cleavage by dipeptidyl peptidase-4, the enzyme that rapidly degrades native GHRH in plasma. The result is a molecule with a longer circulating half-life than the natural hormone while retaining the same receptor target. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder for reconstitution and belongs to the broader class of GHRH analogs studied for effects on pituitary growth hormone secretion.
Insulin-like growth factor 1 is produced largely in the liver in response to growth hormone signaling. Its concentration shifts over days rather than minutes, which makes it practical for tracking changes across a study period. Interpretation still depends on age, nutritional status, and concurrent illness, all of which independently affect the marker. Reference ranges are therefore stratified, and comparisons are usually made within an individual over time rather than against a single population threshold.
Assays for these markers differ in calibration and antibody specificity, so results from different platforms are not always interchangeable. Reported values can shift when a laboratory changes method, even without any biological change. Studies that span long periods or multiple sites often need cross-validation of assays. This methodological variability is a recognized limitation when comparing findings across published reports, and it remains a topic of ongoing standardization work.

Tesamorelin binds to growth hormone-releasing hormone receptors on the surface of pituitary somatotroph cells. This binding activates adenylate cyclase, raising intracellular cyclic AMP levels and triggering the release of growth hormone into circulation. The elevated growth hormone then stimulates hepatic production of insulin-like growth factor 1. Because the effect is mediated through the endogenous axis, secretion remains subject to feedback regulation. This distinguishes it from direct growth hormone administration, which bypasses pituitary control entirely.
Clinical investigation has focused on HIV-associated lipodystrophy, a condition in which antiretroviral therapy contributes to abnormal fat distribution. Excess visceral adipose tissue accumulates in the abdomen while peripheral fat may be lost. Tesamorelin was evaluated for reducing this visceral fat depot, with trials measuring changes in abdominal fat by imaging rather than by body weight alone. The rationale rests on the known lipolytic effects of growth hormone. Effects on visceral fat are documented, while long-term outcomes regarding cardiovascular risk remain less clearly established.
Lyophilized tesamorelin is generally stored refrigerated at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, protected from light and moisture. Peptides in this class are often kept frozen at minus 20 degrees Celsius for longer periods. Reconstituted solutions are typically used within a defined window because hydrolysis and oxidation proceed faster in liquid form. Container material and headspace also influence how long a preparation retains its expected profile. Specific stability figures depend on concentration and buffer composition.
Common analytical approaches include reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography for purity assessment and mass spectrometry for identity confirmation. Peptide mapping after enzymatic digestion can verify the expected sequence. Immunoassays may be used to measure the compound or its downstream markers, but they can cross-react with related peptides and require careful validation. Impurity profiles typically include truncated sequences, oxidized methionine residues, and residual solvents from synthesis. Each method reports a different property, so no single assay establishes overall quality.
After injection, the peptide binds receptors on somatotroph cells in the anterior pituitary. Receptor activation raises intracellular cyclic AMP and triggers release of stored growth hormone into the bloodstream. Because the compound works through the body's own regulatory system, growth hormone pulses retain much of their normal feedback control. Repeated administration also raises insulin-like growth factor 1, a hormone produced mainly in the liver. Investigators treat that rise as a marker that the pituitary axis has been engaged.
Clinical study of tesamorelin has centered on adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy, a condition in which abdominal fat accumulates while peripheral fat is lost. In controlled trials, treated participants showed reductions in visceral adipose tissue measured by imaging, alongside modest shifts in some lipid values. Effects on subcutaneous fat were smaller and less consistent across studies. Whether these changes translate into fewer cardiovascular events remains an open question, because the trials were not designed or powered to answer it.
Tesamorelin is a synthetic peptide that acts as an analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone, a natural hypothalamic signal. Its sequence corresponds to the forty-four amino acid form of the human hormone, with a small acyl group attached near the amino terminus. That modification slows enzymatic breakdown and extends the time the peptide remains active in circulation. The compound was developed as a pharmacological way to raise endogenous growth hormone output rather than supplying the hormone directly.
Chorea-acanthocytosis (ChAc, also called choreoacanthocytosis) is a rare hereditary disease—evidence suggests that only 500 to 1,000 people worldwide have the condition. It is caused by a mutation in a gene that directs structural proteins in red blood cells. It belongs to a group of four diseases characterized under the name neuroacanthocytosis. When a patient's blood is viewed under a microscope, some of the red blood cells appear thorny. These thorny cells are called acanthocytes. Other effects of the disease may include involuntary muscle movements, impaired balance and coordination, behavioral changes, memory problems, difficulty swallowing, speech difficulties, seizures, muscle weakness, personality changes, and neuronal degradation similar to Huntington's disease. The average age of onset of symptoms is 35 years. The disease is incurable and inevitably leads to premature death. Chorea-acanthocytosis is a very complex autosomal recessive adult-onset neurodegenerative disorder. It often shows itself as a mixed movement disorder, in which chorea, tics, dystonia and even parkinsonism may appear as a symptom. This disease is also characterized by the presence of a few different movement disorders including chorea, dystonia etc. Chorea-acanthocytosis is considered an autosomal recessive disorder, although a few cases with autosomal dominant inheritance have been noted.
According to Rhie, the "Cave of the Musicians" is probably the earliest of the "central pillar" caves at Kizil, dated to the mid-4th century CE, and its iconography is also among the earliest. Carbon testing by Su Bai gave dates ranging from 310 +/-80 CE to 350 +/-60 CE (i.e. a maximum range of 230-410 CE). Huo and Wang attributed the cave to the Second Period, giving it a date from mid-4th to late 5th century (circa 350–499 CE). The traditional German datation estimated the cave to be from the 600–650 CE period, and presented it as an example of the later "Blue-green style", said to succeed chronologically the "Orange-green style" group. The so-called "central pillar" which appears on a plan is actually not a pillar at all but only the rock at the back of the cave, into which was bored a circular corridor allowing for circumambulation. There is a niche in the "central pillar" designed to house a statue of the Buddha, and two other niches on each side of the main entrance, and niches in the back corridor. The central niche probably depicted the Buddha meditating in the Indrasala Cave, with a background decoration of a mountain, a recurring central theme at Kizil. Maitreya, the Buddha of the future, in the Tusita Heaven, appears in a beautiful mural over the exit door. Structurally, the cave remains relatively simple, as it does not have an anteroom or vestibule. The style of the paintings is derived from the Art of Gandhara and Kashmir, the Art of Mathura and early Gupta art, with striking influences from Roman art and the art of Palmyra.
Astatine-210 and most of the lighter isotopes exhibit beta plus decay (positron emission), astatine-217 and heavier isotopes except astatine-218 exhibit beta minus decay, while astatine-211 undergoes electron capture. The most stable isotope is astatine-210, which has a half-life of 8.1 hours. The primary decay mode is beta plus, to the relatively long-lived (in comparison to astatine isotopes) alpha emitter polonium-210. In total, only five isotopes have half-lives exceeding one hour (astatine-207 to -211). The least stable ground state isotope is astatine-213, with a half-life of 125 nanoseconds. It undergoes alpha decay to the extremely long-lived bismuth-209. Astatine has 24 known nuclear isomers, which are nuclei with one or more nucleons (protons or neutrons) in an excited state. A nuclear isomer may also be called a "meta-state", meaning the system has more internal energy than the "ground state" (the state with the lowest possible internal energy), making the former likely to decay into the latter. There may be more than one isomer for each isotope. The most stable of these nuclear isomers is astatine-202m1, which has a half-life of about 3 minutes, longer than those of all the ground states bar those of isotopes 203–211 and 220. The least stable is astatine-213m1; its half-life of 110 nanoseconds is shorter than 125 nanoseconds for astatine-213, the shortest-lived ground state.
In 1987, Yates purchased Temple Gym on Temple Street in Birmingham. In 2006, he franchised four additional Temple Gym locations, three of which are in the UK. As of 2020, only the original Birmingham gym is still in operation; it later relocated from Temple Street to the city's Jewellery Quarter. In 1994, Yates and bodybuilding brothers Mike and Ray Mentzer formed the California-based company Heavy Duty Inc., which marketed athletic apparel and bodybuilding books. In 1998, he partnered with Kerry Kayes to form the bodybuilding supplement company CNP Professional, which marketed a "Dorian Yates Approved" product line in the U.S. He left the company in 2006 to form his own company, Dorian Yates Ultimate Formulas, which offers a line of protein and weight-gain supplements. Yates started a second company in 2010 called EU Peptides, which sells peptide hormones and other pro-hormone supplements. He left this company in 2012, having founded a third company called DY Nutrition in 2011; it specializes in pre-workout formulas, has released several training DVDs, and offers a line of workout related supplements endorsed by Yates.
== Race swap controversy == Psylocke was initially the code name of Elizabeth Braddock, a British woman. However, in a Marvel storyline of 1989, Acts of Vengeance, she was "physically transformed into an Asian woman by a villain seeking to brainwash her and turn her into an elite assassin for a group of ninja warriors." This has been criticized as racially insensitive or stereotypical by multiple fans and critics. For example, Anna Lam calls her new form a "fetishized Asian sex object in the style of the classic Dragon Lady of the 1930s." Chris Claremont, the writer of the story, has said that this transformation was originally simply a disguise but became semi-permanent because most fans embraced it. The artist for the story is Jim Lee, a Korean American. The subsequent storyline of 1993, written by Nicieza, mitigates the issue because subsequently the East Asian Psylocke and the white Psylocke are two distinct women (Kwannon and Betsy Braddock, respectively).

=== Potential risks === As BLCO contains materials like vanadium, nickel and PAH, those tend to be harmful and disturb possibility of antioxidant. Heavy metals are necessary in metabolic process of creatures; however, they are the causes of physiological stress at the same time. Pollution problems by oil spills like soils contamination are continuous and prevalent, putting severe health and environmental threats. The pollutants can gradually accumulate in food chains and interrupt biological actions of creatures. Petroleum contaminants are pernicious to nature and moreover, their hydrocarbon elements which are mutagenic and causing cancers, entail immunomodulatory impacts on humans and organisms as well. The symptoms of risks can appear immediately or emerge after some time.
From 13 to 15 May 2026, the president of the United States Donald Trump made a state visit to China. This visit was Trump's second state visit to China, and the first to occur during his second presidency. Trump's first state visit to China occurred in November 2017. This trip was also the first by a U.S. president since Trump's visit in 2017. During the visit, Trump was received by CCP general secretary Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People, where the two leaders held talks. Xi announced the two sides had agreed to establish a Constructive Strategic and Stable Relationship. Following the talks, Xi and Trump visited the Temple of Heaven, the second US president to visit the Temple while in office after President Gerald Ford in 1975. Later, Xi hosted Trump for a dinner banquet at the Golden Room of the Great Hall of the People. Trump invited Xi for a state visit to the United States on 24 September 2026. At the second day of the visit on 15 May, Trump visited the Chinese leadership compound Zhongnanhai. The visit was the first of the four summits between Xi and Trump in 2026. It was reciprocated by a state visit by Xi Jinping to the United States in September 2026. Additionally, Trump is scheduled travel to China for APEC 2026 in November while Xi is scheduled to visit the United States for 2026 G20 Miami summit in December.
=== 2-D liquid chromatography === By coupling liquid chromatography with a variety of other immunodetection techniques such as serological proteome analysis (SERPA), it is possible to analyze the hydrophobicity, PI, relative mass, and antibody reactivity of antibodies within a given serum.
Baricitinib is a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor that reversibly inhibits Janus kinase 1 with a half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 5.9 nM and Janus kinase 2 with an IC50 of 5.7 nM. Tyrosine kinase 2, which belongs to the same enzyme family, is affected less (IC50 = 53 nM), and Janus kinase 3 far less (IC50 > 400 nM). Via a signal transduction pathway involving STAT proteins, this ultimately modulates gene expression in immunological cells. Other JAK inhibitors include tofacitinib, which is indicated for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ulcerative colitis; fedratinib, and ruxolitinib.

A 2017 study finds that countries' coup-proofing strategies are heavily influenced by other countries with similar histories. Coup-proofing is more likely in former French colonies. A 2018 study in the Journal of Peace Research found that leaders who survive coup attempts and respond by purging known and potential rivals are likely to have longer tenures as leaders. A 2019 study in Conflict Management and Peace Science found that personalist dictatorships are more likely to take coup-proofing measures than other authoritarian regimes; the authors argue that this is because "personalists are characterized by weak institutions and narrow support bases, a lack of unifying ideologies and informal links to the ruler". In their 2022 book Revolution and Dictatorship: The Violent Origins of Durable Authoritarianism, political scientists Steven Levitsky and Lucan Way found that political-military fusion, where the ruling party is highly interlinked with the military and created the administrative structures of the military from its inception, is extremely effective at preventing military coups. For example, the People's Liberation Army was created by the Chinese Communist Party during the Chinese Civil War, and never instigated a military coup even after large-scale policy failures (i.e. the Great Leap Forward) or the extreme political instability of the Cultural Revolution. Some scholars have posited that the recruitment of foreign legionnaires into national armies can reduce the probability of military coups.

Numerous traditional methods exist for nitrile preparation by amine oxidation. Common methods include the use of potassium persulfate, Trichloroisocyanuric acid, or anodic electrosynthesis. In addition, several selective methods have been developed in the last decades for electrochemical processes. Several procedures employ nitroxyl radicals such as TEMPO or 4-acetamido-TEMPO as catalytic oxidants. These catalysts can be regenerated either by potassium peroxymonosulfate as the stoichiometric oxidant or electrochemically under applied potential. Another approach utilizes copper(I) chloride or copper(II) chloride as catalyst, molecular oxygen as the stoichiometric oxidant, and a molecular sieve to remove the water formed.

It is a synthetic peptide built from 44 amino acids arranged in the same order as human growth hormone-releasing hormone. A short fatty-acid chain, described as a trans-3-hexenoyl group, is attached to the first amino acid. The finished molecule is formulated as a sterile powder that is dissolved before use.
No. It is a releasing-factor analog that signals the pituitary gland to secrete growth hormone, whereas recombinant growth hormone is the hormone itself administered directly. The two are chemically distinct and act at different points in the same endocrine pathway. This distinction is often lost in informal discussion.
Native growth hormone-releasing hormone is broken down within minutes by dipeptidyl peptidase-4 in the bloodstream. Adding the hexenoyl group at the N-terminus shields the peptide from that enzyme. The modification does not change the receptor it targets, only how long the peptide survives in circulation.
It varies slowly and reflects cumulative axis activity rather than momentary secretion. Growth hormone is released in pulses affected by sleep, stress, and meals, making single readings hard to interpret. The slower marker gives a more stable picture across a study period.
